HOUSTON VETERANS DAY PARADE 11 NOV 2011

This was our unit's first official event - to march in the Houston Veteran's Day Parade in Houston, Texas as part of the 6th
Cavalry Historical Association vehicle entry.  6th KOSB Historical Reenactment Unit formed  part of a small group of
reenactors who choose to "hoof it" on foot during the short parade in downtown Houston.

Before the parade began we were honored to have Captain Donald Shoffett (blue jacket, age
92) join us for the parade.  Captain Shoffett was the Distinguished Service Medal, and five air
citations with the 13th Air Force in the South Pacific.  On the right, wearing military greens is
Sgt. Harold Best, a Marine Corps combat veteran of the battle of Fallujah, Iraq.  Sgt. Best
also spent time with the Black Watch in Iraq and can attest to their incredible ability to "put
away the beer."
