| 1987 Nijmegan March, Nijmegan, Holland. PHOTO COURTESY SIGNAL REGIMENT VETERANS ASSOCIATION (SRVA) 63rd Signal Battalion's March Team took part in the "Vierdaagse" (four days) Nijmegan March event in September, 1987, 43 years after the first ripcord stretched taught over Drop Zones in Holland during Operation MARKET-GARDEN, 17 September 1944. Our march team had prepared for three months on long, exhausting practice marches to-and-from 63rd SIG BN HQ at Maasweiler (Rhinelandpfaltz) to Germersheim, (West) Germany. My mug is located to the left of the red cross (with glasses). After the photo was taken, I limped over the medical tent and had my feet bandaged by 3 SIG BDE medical personnel. I used this opportunity to take a small sidetrip with several 63rd Sig soldiers to Arnhem and walked across John Frost Bridge, visited the Hartenstein Hotel and walked 7th KOSB's LZ at Wolfheze, near Oosterbeek. |
