6th King's Own Scottish Borderers in Northwest Europe 1944-45
JOINING THE REENACTMENT GROUP

    Introduction
    Membership in 6th Battalion, KOSB Historical Reenactment Group is open to anyone who can fulfill our membership
    requirements.   We are looking for team-oriented, dedicated historians who are in moderate to good physical shape.  You will
    find that our unit is a dedicated field unit with an emphasis on field craft, small unit tactics and close order drill.

    Basic Membership Requirements
    To join 6th KOSB Historical Reenactment Unit the following basic membership requirements must be met:

  • Be a U.S. citizen;
  • Be at least 18 years of age;
  • Have no felony convictions;
  • Be in moderate to good physical shape.
  • Purchase all required gear within one (1) year of joining [ 1 ];
  • Pass Inspection ( see below ) and be awarded your KOSB cap badge;
  • Attend a minimum of two (2) unit-sponsored events per year (tacticals or show battles);

    Unit Inspection
    All new candidates must pass uniform, equipment and weapon inspection within one (1) year of joining 6th KOSB Historical
    Reenactment Unit.   You will be asked to lay out your gear on a blanket, and the Unit Commander (U/C) will inspect to
    make sure you have all the required equipment, proper, authentic uniform (with insignia) and weapon.  Upon passing inspec-
    tion, you will then be awarded your King's Own Scottish Borderers (KOSB) cap badge and be "badged" into the unit.  This
    is a time of great enjoyment for our group.   The new Private will be able to vote on unit business, be promoted in rank, hold
    appointments within the unit (safety officer, Colour Party, piper, etc.).  Unit Inspection is your right of passage into our group.

    6th KOSB is a field unit
    Like our wartime namesake 70 years ago, we live, eat, sleep, fight (and shit) in the field, during the duration of the weekend
    tactical battle reenactment.   At all simulated reenactment events, 6th KOSB will:

  • route step to and from the Allied AO to our fighting positions;
  • dig 1-2 fighting positions (1-2 man foxholes) with GS shovels / pick mattoxs;
  • mess (eat) in the field, either over an open fire or eat cold rations from our small packs;
  • stage night-time patrols from our AO toward German lines from 02.00 - 06.00 hours;
  • take stag (sentry duty) which all personnel will take from 10.00 - 06.00 hours;
  • bivvy (sleep) in our foxholes, during the duration of the tactical reenactment;

    6th KOSB is not a booze-blanks-buffet reenacment group.  WWII reenacting is not a video game like Call of Duty, nor
    should it be a BBQ cook out (like many battles turn into).  If you are not ready to get dirty, sweaty, filthy, cold or wet, we
    urge you pick another unit to join.
